This Privacy Policy explains how the Divvy mobile application (“Divvy”, “the app”, “we”, “us”) collects, uses, and protects your information. By using Divvy you agree to this policy.
Divvy is an expense-splitting app that helps groups of people track shared expenses and settle debts.
We collect only what is needed to run the app:
| Data | Why we collect it |
|---|---|
| Name | To create your account and show you in groups |
| Email address | Account sign-in, account creation, and password reset |
| Account ID | A unique identifier for your account and your data |
| Expense data you enter | Amounts, descriptions, categories, splits, and balances — the core function of the app |
| UPI ID / PayPal username | Optional — only if you add them, to enable “settle up” payment links |
| Device push token | A device identifier used to support notifications |
We do not collect your phone number, contacts, location, photos, or precise device identifiers for advertising.
Your information is used only to:
We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not sell your data.
Divvy uses Google Firebase (Firebase Authentication and Cloud Firestore), a service provided by Google LLC. Your data is stored on Google Cloud servers. Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and encrypted at rest by Google Cloud.
We do not sell or rent your personal information. Your data is shared only:
Divvy does not process payments and does not handle or store your money, card numbers, or bank details. The “settle up” feature only opens a third-party app (your UPI app or PayPal) with payment details pre-filled. Any payment you make happens entirely within that third-party app under their own terms and privacy policies.
Your data is kept for as long as your account exists.
You can delete your account at any time from within the app: Profile → Settings → Delete Account. This permanently removes your account and personal profile. For shared group history to remain consistent for other members, expenses you were part of are retained but your identity is replaced with an anonymous “Deleted User” label.
To request deletion or ask a data question, email balak.developer@gmail.com.
Divvy is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.
We use industry-standard measures, including encrypted connections and authentication, to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will reflect any changes. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated policy.
